Blending nature with architectural brilliance

Japanese and Scandinavian influences guided the renovation of this residence in Mount Royal by Atelier Chardonnat and Salem Architecture. The original architecture, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, has been respectfully transformed and expanded, harmonizing the building with the natural beauty of the surrounding forest. A purpose-built Zen garden
further enhances and reinforces the sense of serenity and connection with nature.

Natural materials such as oak, walnut, stone, marble, and wood treated using the Shou Sugi Ban technique continue seamlessly throughout the interiors. The kitchen, like most of the rooms in the house, was designed to allow large windows to flood the space with natural light. The warm tones of CEA’s Bronze satin finish, INNOVO collection, integrate perfectly with the oak flooring and walnut cabinetry, creating a harmonious balance between elegance and naturalness.

The project combines respect for its context with the use of contemporary design elements, resulting in a residence that embodies both integration with nature and architectural excellence.

In the bathrooms, marble and wood reaffirm their timeless elegance: diffused light permeates the space, creating a sense of calm and airiness. For this delicately nuanced environment, Atelier Chardonnat selected GIOTTO taps in stainless steel satin finish.
